Philips Healthcare has won a contract with a California hospital to incorporate its Ambient Experience design elements into the hospital's electrophysiology (EP) lab.
Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian's EP cardiac catheterization lab already includes Philips' Allura Xper FD20 angiography system, which has a large field-of-view to visualize the heart, as well as the company's EP navigator technology to visualize 3D cardiac anatomy and the position of catheters, according to Philips.
With the addition of Philips' Ambient Experience technology, patients can use a touchscreen tablet PC to select from several themes and watch as the room is transformed with light and sound, Philips said.
