Fuji launches DR flat-panel detector at AHRA

Fujifilm Medical Systems USA used the venue of the AHRA 2012 meeting in Orlando, FL, this week to announce the commercial availability of its FDR D-Evo 24 x 30-cm cesium iodide flat-panel digital radiography (DR) detector.

The detector's lightweight, compact design is targeted for use in neonatal, pediatric, and orthopedic imaging applications, according to Fuji.

The new wireless detector combines the company's irradiation side sampling (ISS) technology with the image performance of cesium iodide. ISS technology is designed to improve detective quantum efficiency (DQE) by reducing the distance for light signals to reach the sensing electronics. By reducing scatter and blur, it produces sharp details even at very low x-ray exposures, the company said.

Fuji claims that the design delivers as much as 20% higher DQE performance than conventional detectors.
