Stalco Construction and DIGroupArchitecture have begun an $815,000 renovation and upgrade of a cardiac catheterization lab at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, NY.
The new lab and support facilities were designed by DIGroupArchitecture; the renovated 1,500-sq-ft space will house a main cath lab, a control room, a doctor's office, a scrub room, two beds for patient preparation, soiled utility and clean storage rooms, a staff lounge, and bathrooms.
The designers developed a new layout that accommodated additional building systems necessary for the new equipment to be installed in the space; several partition walls were reutilized, which reduced the construction cost, and a more economical floor plan will allow the hospital to create a new staff lounge.
The renovated lab will feature the Innova IGS 620 biplane angiography system from GE Healthcare.
