J2 Medical has released a new version of its Akucal scaling tool for digital radiography (DR) orthopedic imaging.
Akucal is designed to provide reference markers on orthopedic DR studies to compensate for magnification factors that can occur when distances vary between patient anatomy and the DR system's x-ray tube and receptor. Such variances can introduce inaccuracies into orthopedic templating software if they are not corrected for, according to the company.
The new fourth-generation Akucal includes a number of enhancements:
- A suction cup made with an advanced silicone formula, providing better surface adhesion
- An aluminum milled base that has a more ergonomic design and is more user friendly
- A flexible arm now available in multiple lengths
- A marker made of 440-grade stainless steel with a Rockwell hardness of 65 and an accuracy tolerance of 0.0001
