Ziehm debuts mobile C-arm at RSNA

C-arm developer Ziehm Imaging has debuted a mobile C-arm at RSNA 2013 in Chicago.

Ziehm Vision RFD Hybrid Edition is a mobile C-arm tailored to hybrid operating room (OR) requirements. The fully motorized mobile C-arm features joystick operation and a 25-kW generator, Ziehm said.

The mobile C-arm has four axes: horizontal, vertical, orbital rotation, and in angulation. Each position can be stored at the touch of a button and recalled at any time, eliminating the need to constantly reposition the system on the OR table, the company said.

The operator must deliberately touch any two contact points on the joystick (position control center) with the fingers to activate movement of the C-arm to prevent accidental operation. The joystick module also has a function for defining an isocenter around which the system moves concentrically.

In addition, the system includes distance control, an assistance system supporting noncontact collision protection. The automatic surface detection is integrated around the lower edge of the flat panel, and in the patient's proximity, the motorized movement is slowed down. The movement stops immediately before entering a defined safety zone, Ziehm said.

The hybrid edition also offers an active liquid cooling system (Advanced Active Cooling) in the standard version that keeps the generator at a consistent operating temperature and prevents it from overheating.
