The global market for fluoroscopy and mobile C-arms generated $1.69 billion in revenue in 2012 and will grow at a compound annual growth rate of just 3% to reach $2.08 billion in 2019, according to a report from Transparency Market Research.
Increasing demand for interventional radiology operations is expected to contribute to growth, along with other factors such as a higher number of orthopedic surgeries due to sports injuries and a geriatric population, technology developments, and an increase in the number of hospitals, Transparency said.
While fluoroscopy devices made up the largest share of the fluoroscopy and mobile C-arm market in terms of revenue in 2012, the mobile C-arm segment is currently dominating the market in terms of volume, according to the company.
In other projections, Transparency said it expects the full-size C-arm market segment to develop at a faster pace from 2013 through 2019, thanks to technical advances and multiple applications.
