Carestream Health has begun worldwide deliveries of its DRX Plus 3543 and DRX Plus 3543C detectors, as well as its DRX-Excel and DRX-Excel Plus radiography/fluoroscopy (R/F) systems.
The third generation of Carestream's wireless DR detectors, DRX Plus 3543, and DRX Plus 3543C offer higher detective quantum efficiency (DQE) for improved image quality and lower dose and can also be submerged in 1 meter of water for 30 minutes without failure, according to the vendor. In addition, they feature a lighter weight and thinner profile, Carestream said.
Other enhancements include faster calibration time, boot time, preview time, and full-resolution display time, Carestream said. The company has also incorporated increased battery life and on-detector calibration file storage to provide faster setup of the detector on multiple systems. DRX Plus 3543 is targeted at general radiography imaging, while the DRX Plus 3543C cesium iodide detector confers benefits for pediatric and other dose-sensitive applications, according to the vendor.
As for the R/F systems, DRX-Excel and DRX-Excel Plus are both configured with a table and overhead tube. Customers can also deploy an optional integrated flat-panel detector for general radiography as well as fluoroscopic sequences. DRX-Excel can be utilized as a conventional R/F system that uses either computed radiography (CR) cassettes or DRX-1 detectors with an image intensifier.
Carestream said that both systems provide a source-to-image detector distance of 180 cm, an ergonomic design, and the ability to select an image intensifier for fluoroscopy or use the optional flat-panel detector. Meanwhile, DRX-Excel Plus includes an elevating table that tilts for fluoroscopy exams and can be lowered or raised, the firm said. It has a table weight capacity of 265 kg (584 lb). DRX-Excel comes with a fixed table that can support weight up to 200 kg (440 lb). It can also be tilted during fluoroscopy exams.
While both systems will be available in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and other countries, U.S. customers will only be able to purchase the DRX-Excel Plus system.
