PerkinElmer to debut DR detectors at RSNA 2015

PerkinElmer will highlight new flat-panel digital radiography (DR) detectors at the upcoming RSNA 2015 meeting in Chicago.

Designed for use in radiography, fluoroscopy, and conebeam CT systems, XRD4343RF is a 43 x 43-cm detector that provides frame rates of up to 50 frames per second, according to the vendor. It also has a direct-deposited cesium-iodide scintillator.

Another new detector, Dexela 2321, is a 23 x 21-cm digital detector for real-time imaging applications, and it is targeted for use as a component in mobile C-arm and other fluoroscopy systems. It employs low-noise complementary metal oxide (CMOS) image sensor technology and features a cesium iodide scintillator and low-dose detective quantum efficiency (DQE), according to the firm. Both XRD4343RF and Dexela 2321 will begin shipping in 2016.

PerkinElmer also plans to showcase its XRpad family of detectors. A wireless, portable detector, XRpad 4336 features a 100-micron pixel pitch, a directly deposited cesium-iodide scintillator, and automatic exposure detection technology, according to the firm. XRpad 4343 F is a wired, cassette-sized detector that offers the same features as XRpad 4336.

The work-in-progress XRpad2 3025 will be the company's second-generation wireless, lightweight, cassette-sized detector for digital radiography. It provides a 30 x 25-cm imaging area.
