Turner Imaging Systems' Smart-C portable x-ray system was used in about 40% of National Football League (NFL) games and 25% of XFL football games for the 2022 season.
The system provides real-time radiographic and fluoroscopic x-ray images of injuries sustained by athletes during games. It weighs about 16 lb and is powered by Li-Ion battery technology.
The company said it intends to build on this recent success by expanding its reach to other professional sports leagues and collegiate athletic programs.
