Interventional device developer Medtronic has named imaging industry veteran Omar Ishrak as chairman and CEO, effective June 13.
Ishrak comes to Medtronic following a 16-year stint with GE Healthcare, most recently serving as president and CEO of GE Healthcare Systems. Prior to joining GE, Ishrak spent more than 13 years in senior technology development and business management roles at Philips Ultrasound, Diasonics, and Elbit Ultrasound Group.
He succeeds William Hawkins, who announced his intention to retire in December 2010.
