The comeback of PET camera developer Positron appears to be progressing well. The Houston company reported record financial results for the third quarter (end-September 30), posting a net profit and breaking the company record for number of scanners shipped on a year-to-date basis.
For the quarter, Positron had sales of $3.4 million, compared with revenues of $385,000 in the same period in 1999. The company’s net income was $1.5 million, compared with a net profit of $28,000 in the third quarter of last year.
Positron president Gary Brooks said the firm sold three PET cameras in the third quarter, a company record. It has shipped five cameras this year to date, also a company record, Brooks said. Positron expects sales to increase further as interest in PET imaging grows.
