NAS sales sag in Q2

Radiopharmaceutical developer North American Scientific reported second-quarter net sales of $2.9 million, down 42% from the $5 million booked in the second quarter of 2002. For the period (end-April 30), the Chatsworth, CA-based firm had a net loss of $2.4 million, compared with a net loss of $4.9 million (including $4.6 million of write-downs) in the same period a year ago.

NAS had expected the dip in sales, which it attributed to the transition from an exclusive distribution relationship to direct sales. However, the company said it was pleased with the sales momentum for its Prospera Pd-103 and Prospera I-125 brachytherapy seeds.
