Belgian nuclear medicine products firm Ion Beam Applications (IBA) posted gains in sales and earnings its mid-year financial report (end-June 30).
Sales at the Louvain-la-Neuve-based firm increased 28% to $104.4 million in the first six months of 2006, compared with $81.9 million in the same period of 2005. Net income rose to $33.1 million, compared with $6.7 million in the year-ago period.
IBA credited the sharp rise in earnings to $28.8 million in non-recurrent items: $15.2 million from the acquisition of Berlin-based Schering's FDG operations; a minority interest in Schering's CIS-Bio radiopharmaceutical business; IBA's sale of Scanditronix Magnet of Vislanda, Sweden; and $13.6 million from deferred tax movements.
