GE shows new offerings at ASTRO

GE Healthcare of Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., unveiled two new products at this week's American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) meeting in Los Angeles.

GE's PET VCAR (volume computer-assisted reading) for radiation therapy planning is designed to enhance tumor management, early quantification, and treatment for precision treatment planning. It also is used to measure the effectiveness of that treatment by identifying, delineating, and quantifying areas of metabolic activity in PET/CT scans, and, through its registration capability, to compare tumor response over time.

GE Healthcare also introduced additional options for its LightSpeed RT16 to conduct RT simulation and proton therapy planning.

GE's Proton Package includes AdvantageSim MD for volume definition and geometric beam placement capability for radiotherapy.

In addition, Advantage 4D Respiratory Gating with real-time position management technology from Palo Alto, CA-based Varian Medical Systems is designed for use anywhere respiratory motion is encountered, which could affect regions from the lungs to the kidneys, liver, and through the pelvis.
