Carestream Health of Rochester, NY, has been hit with a lawsuit over patents related to optical imaging technology.
Caliper Life Sciences subsidiary Xenogen of Hopkington, MA, and Stanford University of Stanford, CA, filed suit against Carestream in a Texas federal court, charging the company with violating seven patents related to methods for noninvasive in vivo imaging of fluorescence and bioluminescence in animals.
The patents support Caliper's Optical Imaging Patent Suite, which is used for identifying disease pathways, determining mechanisms of action, evaluating drug compounds, and monitoring a compound's effects on disease progression in living animals, according to the company.
