Nycomed launches cancer pain Web site

Joining a virtual flood of commercial patient-information Web sites, Princeton, NJ-based Nycomed Amersham Imaging has launched www.cancerpaintherapy.com, aimed at helping cancer patients explore treatment options and cope with the pain associated with metastatic bone disease. The site is the second disease-specific Web offering for the radiotherapy products manufacturer, which launched www.prostatecancersurvival.com in early November.

Cancerpaintherapy.com will contain detailed clinical data and technical information about the company's Metastron (strontium-89 chloride) product, developed to the treat advanced bone pain associated with prostate cancer. In recent years, Metastron has also been used successfully to treat advanced bone pain associated with lung and breast cancer, according to the company.

The site will also provide links to other cancer resources, including the American Cancer Society, US Too! International, the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, and the National Prostate Cancer Coalition.
