Nuclear medicine vendor ADAC Laboratories has announced that Hitachi Medical Corporation will become the exclusive distributor of ADAC’s PET systems in Japan. The two firms have already booked their first order, a C-PET system for Hyogo Radiotherapy Center in Tokyo.
The new agreement builds on an April 1999 deal between the firms that allowed Tokyo-based Hitachi to market the Milpitas, CA-based vendor’s Pinnacle3 radiation therapy planning system, as well as ADAC's other nuclear medicine products, including the Forte dual-head gamma camera, molecular coincidence detection with attenuation correction (MCD/AC PET) upgrade, and Vantage ExSPECT technology.
Hitachi also installs and services ADAC’s customer base in Japan. The two firms believe the Japanese PET market is poised to grow rapidly once PET scans are approved for insurance reimbursement, a development expected for late next year.
