GE Medical Systems has finalized its agreement to acquire Elscint’s 50% interest in ELGEMS, a joint venture formed by the two companies in 1997 to manufacture nuclear imaging systems. Waukesha, WI-based GE purchased Elscint’s 50% interest in ELGEMS for $30 million.
ELGEMS of Haifa, Israel, is responsible for the research, development, engineering, and manufacturing of all GE gamma cameras and other nuclear imaging and PET products. GE and ELGEMS also developed GE’s Hawkeye imaging system, which combines CT and nuclear imaging capabilities.
