GE Medical Systems has received Food and Drug Administration clearance for eNtegra PE, a handheld computer designed to offer wireless image review and personal computing applications. A review station for nuclear medicine and PET exams, eNtegra PE combines clinical review-quality images, integration with GE's eNtegra workstation family, and Pocket PC time management tools, according to the Waukesha, WI-based vendor.
eNtegra PE supports bidirectional communications via wired and wireless Ethernet, modems, infrared, and serial USB channels, according to GE. The system also comes with 5 GB of storage space for patient data archiving. Security features include 128-bit encryption, user authentication, and application-level encryption, according to GE.
