NAS ups sales, trims losses in Q3

Radiopharmaceutical developer North American Scientific reported third-quarter net sales of $5.3 million, up 9% from the $4.9 million reported in the third quarter of 2001. For the period (end-July 31), the Chatsworth, CA-based vendor posted a net loss of $350,000, a significant improvement compared with a net loss of $1.8 million reported in the same period last year.

For the first three quarters of 2002, net sales were $15.2 million, 7% higher than the net sales of $14.2 million in the first nine months of fiscal 2001. However, net loss for the first nine months of fiscal 2002 was $5.1 million, versus a net loss of $2.1 million for the corresponding period of fiscal 2001. As of the end of the 2002 third quarter, the firm’s cash, short-term investments, and marketable securities totaled $55.8 million, NAS said.
