Siemens, Cleveland Clinic ink SPECT tech deal

Siemens Medical Solutions has signed a licensing agreement with the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio to market SPECT reconstruction and calibration software developed by researchers at the clinic, according to the Malvern, PA-based vendor.

The firm said the application provides clearer images at a higher resolution than traditional single- or multipinhole collimators, and could allow researchers to more accurately image new diagnostic and therapeutic compounds in preclinical studies.

In addition to marketing the software, Siemens said it expects to release a new multipinhole product based on the technology.
