Hermes adds storage, Web viewing

Swedish imaging software and IT provider Hermes Medical Solutions introduced Web viewing and storage capabilities for its software at the Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM) meeting in San Diego.

TeleHermes gives users techniques such as voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) and video over Internet protocol (video oIP) on their nuclear medicine workstations, improving communication with referring physicians or between imaging facilities with multiple centers, according to Jeff Grenier, director of marketing and sales at the company. The application supports the use of a Webcam that can be mounted on a monitor to add the video component to communications.

Stockholm, Sweden-based Hermes is moving into the PACS world with the launch of Super Server, an archive that gives facilities access to archiving features starting at 5 terabytes (TB) of storage. Super Server also enables Hermes users to move into a thin-client architecture, and to access Hermes studies and applications over Web connections.

Both TeleHermes and Super Server can be installed independently of the Hermes workstation software, or can be used as part of a Hermes installation, Grenier said.

Hermes also talked up a new online processing service the company is launching that enables facilities to send studies to Hermes for image processing rather than purchase the company's workstation software outright.
