Medical instrumentation provider Thermo Electron has purchased GV Instruments of Manchester, U.K., a manufacturer of isotope ratio mass spectrometers (IRMS).
According to terms of the deal, Waltham, MA-based Thermo Electron paid approximately $21 million for the firm, subject to a postclosing adjustment. The acquisition enables Thermo, already a leading IRMS manufacturer, to offer additional products in isotope ratio determination used in earth sciences, medical, and life sciences applications.
