Nuclear medicine software developer Segami and gamma camera developer Mid-Atlantic Imaging have released the maiCAM180, a portable, dual-detector gamma camera optimized for cardiac SPECT imaging in small office rooms and portable or mobile operations, according to the Columbia, MD-based firms.
The device can image patients up to 500 lbs (227 kg) in a seated position, does not require any site preparation, and can be connected to a standard AC power outlet, the companies said. The firms stated that each detector of the maiCAM180 deploys a 5 x 7 array of square photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) for a field-of-view of 14.8 x 9.5 inches (37.6 x 24 cm) to facilitate positioning of the heart during patient setup and to avoid truncation during scanning.
