Philips Medical Systems of Andover, MA, will unveil a new large-bore PET/CT system as a work-in-progress at this year's annual meeting of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) in Los Angeles.
The new PET/CT scanner is based on the Philips Gemini TF PET/CT with time-of-flight technology and Brilliance CT Big Bore systems. By integrating PET, CT, and radiation oncology capabilities into one system, the Philips Big Bore PET/CT scanner is designed to provide positioning accuracy and workflow synchronization for radiation oncology.
The new system features a new, indexed 53-cm flat table for enhanced position information to plan and apply external beam radiation. It also includes an 85-cm bore for both PET and CT subsystems, 15 cm larger than conventional bore openings.
