Canadian healthcare company MDS of Mississauga, Ontario, posted lower sales and a big net loss for its fourth-quarter (end-October 31) financial results.
The company reported total revenue of $322 million. Net revenue was $295 million, a 4% decrease compared to $307 million in the fourth quarter of 2007.
Including a goodwill write-down for its MDS Pharma Services subsidiary and a previously disclosed $246 million after-tax charge to write off its discontinued Maple nuclear reactor project, MDS reported a net loss of $575 million.
The firm's MDS Nordion business reported revenue of $84 million for the quarter, up 9% from $76 million last year.
