Shareholders of MDS, parent company of MDS Nordion of Ottawa, have voted to change the company's name to Nordion.
The approval came after the company closed on the sale of its Pharma Services business on March 15 for $45 million to Ricerca Biosciences, which provides early-stage contract research organization services.
The name change reflects the company's new focus on its remaining medical isotopes business, Nordion officials said. The company also is putting the final touches on the move of its corporate headquarters from Toronto to Ottawa.
