Atomic Energy of Canada (AECL) reported this week that repairs to its National Research Universal (NRU) nuclear reactor in Chalk River, Ontario, are 71% complete.
The repairs, which began December 12, 2009, remain on schedule for the facility to resume medical isotope production by the end of July.
With nine of 10 reactor sites fixed, AECL noted that the final repair area appears to be the most challenging to achieve "a lasting repair while managing the stresses on the vessel."
