Atomic Energy of Canada (AECL) has reported that repairs to its National Research Universal (NRU) nuclear reactor in Chalk River, Ontario, are 98% complete.
In its latest update, AECL noted that work continues to address a "single imperfection" that was found during nondestructive examination of the final weld repair.
When the work is complete, AECL plans to inspect the final repair and begin its restart process. It is still anticipated that NRU will resume isotope production by the end of July.
