Lantheus Medical Imaging of North Billerica, MA, has signed a new molybdenum-99 (Mo-99) manufacturing and supply agreement with nuclear medicine firm MDS Nordion.
Under the terms of the deal, Ottawa-based MDS Nordion will send Lantheus additional supplies of Mo-99 on a weekly basis once the National Research Universal (NRU) reactor is back online at the end of July. The contract is in place until July 31, 2011, according to Lantheus.
Mo-99 is used in Lantheus' TechneLite generators, which produce technetium-99m, Lantheus said.
