GE Healthcare has inked an agreement to acquire the assets of Orbotech Medical Solutions, the manufacturer of cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) detectors used in its Alcyone nuclear medicine technology.
The Chalfont St. Giles, U.K.-based vendor will pay $9 million in cash at closing and up to an additional $5 million in cash for the Yavne, Israel-based firm, subject to the achievement of performance-based milestones.
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals, and is expected to close by the first quarter of 2011, GE said.
