Russia may export isotopes to Iran

Russia reportedly is ready to sign a contract with Iran for the delivery of radioactive isotopes for medical purposes.

A report by RIA Novosti quoted a spokesman from the Rosatom state-controlled nuclear corporation as saying a contract is imminent, but a date for completion of the agreement was not confirmed.

Rosatom head Sergei Kiriyenko visited Iran earlier this week and discussed with Iranian authorities their request for molybdenum-99 (Mo-99) and iodine-131 isotopes.
