Canadian radioisotope firm Nordion and Bracco Imaging have signed a two-year contract to supply U.S. subsidiary Bracco Diagnostics with strontium-82.
The medical isotope is produced at both Nordion's Vancouver, British Columbia, and Ottawa, Ontario, facilities.
Strontium-82 is used in Bracco's CardioGen-82 generators and decays over time into the medical isotope rubidium-82.
Rubidium-82 chloride injection is used in PET imaging of the myocardium under rest or pharmacologic stress conditions to evaluate regional myocardial perfusion in adult patients with suspected or existing coronary artery disease.
