United Imaging unveiled its latest whole-body PET/CT scanner on June 25 at the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) meeting in Chicago.
Called the uMI Panorama, the new PET/CT wide-bore system features a National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) resolution of 2.9 mm, a 35-cm axial field of view (FOV), and a 194-picoseconds timing resolution, the vendor said. While the scanner was officially unveiled at SNMMI 2023, the system has already been installed at one institution -- the Huntsman Cancer Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, United said.

Image courtesy of United Imaging.The uMI Panorama is a family of products that also includes a 510k pending system with a 148-cm ultralong axial FOV called the MI Panorama GS, which was also unveiled at the SNMMI meeting and which enables high-resolution total-body PET/CT imaging in a single bed position.
Both systems are equipped with a molecular imaging platform called uExel, which integrates hardware and software innovations to optimize performance, imaging capabilities, and system functionalities, the vendor said. The platform boasts a high-performance ASIC chip and an AI-enabled workflow.
The uMI Panorama is one of four new imaging modalities the company has launched this year, United said.
In other news, United said that the company will be joining SNMMI's Leadership Circle and will be taking an industry co-chair position.
