This Melville, NY, MRI developer will talk up its Upright MRI scanner, which conducts studies with patients standing up rather than lying recumbent on a patient table.
Because the scanner can image patients in weight-bearing positions, the company believes that Upright MRI can detect pathology that might be missed on conventional scanners. This is particularly the case when patients are imaged in positions in which they are experiencing pain, according to Fonar.
The scanner can also image patients in positions that include flexion, in extension, and with rotation. Fonar plans to highlight case studies produced with the scanner that compare recumbent imaging to upright imaging.
