This Hazelwood, MO-based division of Tyco Healthcare will demonstrate its MRidium MRI system, a nonmagnetic large-volume infusion pump, at this year's RSNA conference.

2006 11 01 15 00 19 706The pump is designed for patient and clinician safety by eliminating the dangers of a magnetic pump in the MRI suite -- the pump can be used safely up to the 10,000-Gauss field line. Other special features of the pump include an integrated dose calculator, a large LCD display for ease of use, and an extra long-life Li-Polymer battery, which can be recharged in the magnet room.

MRidium accessories include an infusion bypass set that easily allows the transfer from general IV pumps to the MRI pump without loss or disconnection of existing tubing; a wireless remote display that allows clinicians to monitor and adjust IVs inside or outside the magnet room; a vented syringe adapter allowing delivery of fluids directly from a syringe; and an optional "side car" pump module that provides a dual-channel pump. The pump has also been cleared for use with 3-tesla MRI scanners.
