GE wins FDA OK for new MRI units

GE Healthcare has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Optima MR360 and Brivo MR355 MRI systems, both 1.5 tesla.

Optima MR360 includes Express Exam, which combines user interface simplification features, embedded Express Coil technology, and a range of clinical applications. Optima MR360 also features a 48-cm field-of-view and GE's OpTix optical radiofrequency system.

Brivo MR355 also features a 48-cm field-of-view, OpTix technology, and the embedded Express Coil. Brivo includes GE's Ready Interface, a control center that requires fewer steps to optimize scan parameters; Ready Bar, which reduces 30 inputs to a single control; and Ready Brain, an acquisition technique that automatically determines slice alignment for brain scans, according to GE.
