Philips debuted a new AI-driven technology called SmartSpeed Precise as well as showcased its next-generation, helium-free 1.5-tesla BlueSeal MRI scanner at ECR 2025 in Vienna.
SmartSpeed Precise is driven by dual-AI engines and builds on the company’s Compressed Sense and SmartSpeed technologies. The technology significantly improves MRI scan speed and image quality and eventually will be available across the company’s 1.5-tesla and 3-tesla MRI scanners, Philips said. Philips also showcased the latest version of its MR Workspace software, which is designed to streamline workflows.
The 1.5-tesla BlueSeal is an industry-first wide-bore MRI scanner, Philips said. Featuring a helium-free magnet system, it eliminates the need for helium refills, even in the event of a shutdown, which ensures long-term reliability and reduces environmental impact, according to the company.
Using SmartSpeed on the BlueSeal scanner can reduce exam times to less than 60 minutes per slot for a multiparametric diagnostic quality whole-body exam, which makes it possible to scan two more patients per day, a company official noted. SmartSpeed Precise is considered a work in progress and is not CE marked and not yet available for sale, Philips said.
