Varian launches brachytherapy tool

Radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems of Palo Alto, CA, has introduced a new package that helps clinicians calculate patient doses for brachytherapy treatments.

BrachyVision Acuros is a radiotherapy-specific version of the software product Attila, developed by Transpire. It uses a technique called a grid-based Boltzmann solver to calculate dose in three to eight minutes, depending on the applicator that is used, Varian Medical said.
