Radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems of Palo Alto, CA, plans to debut new and upgraded products for radiotherapy and radiosurgery at the upcoming American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) meeting in Anaheim, CA.
Varian will highlight a new version of its Eclipse radiotherapy treatment planning system, which now features conformal and biological optimization, biological evaluation, brachytherapy dosimetry, and other tools for planning different types of radiation therapy, radiosurgery, and stereotactic body radiosurgery treatments.
The company will also showcase a new automatic segmentation tool, acquired from Houston-based IKOEmed, that performs automatic contouring of tumors and surrounding anatomy. Another highlight will be the company's PortalVision system, which enables clinics without Varian's On-Board Imager device to use a treatment beam to guide patient positioning for image-guided radiation therapy, and Portal Dosimetry, a quality assurance tool for radiation therapy treatment plans.
