Brachytherapy device developer Xoft has launched a multicenter skin cancer trial for its Axxent eBx electronic brachytherapy system.
The trial aims to further prove the safety and feasibility of the device for the treatment of nonmelanoma skin cancers, according to the Sunnyvale, CA-based vendor. The first skin cancer patients were recently treated using Axxent, which has been available for the treatment of early-stage breast cancer since 2005 and for endometrial cancer since 2008, Xoft said.
