Radiation therapy firm TomoTherapy of Madison, WI, has launched a new mobile radiation therapy device.
TomoMobile consists of a standard TomoTherapy radiation therapy system in a movable coach that simulates the environment of a conventional treatment vault. The mobile unit allows patients to be treated during construction of a new facility or in advance of system installation and helps facilities alleviate temporary backlogs, according to TomoTherapy.
Artesian Cancer Center of Muskogee in Oklahoma will become the first TomoTherapy customer to use TomoMobile to provide radiation therapy treatments while it constructs a new medical office building over the next year, the company said.
