Radiotherapy firm Accuray of Sunnyvale, CA, has reported a doubling in utilization of its Accuray treatment planning service, from 10% of the U.S. installed base in February 2009 to 20% now.
The service links a treatment facility with a group of remote medical physicists who are specialists in CyberKnife radiosurgery treatment planning.
The firm believes that the service can assist customers with growing patient volumes or fluctuations in staffing, in addition to providing a pathway for collaboration with specialized medical physicists to enhance confidence in new applications for CyberKnife technology.
Accuray also reported a new multisite agreement with Alliance Oncology of Anaheim, CA, to use the service in five CyberKnife centers.
