Brachytherapy firm Cianna Medical reported results of the most recent study using the company's SAVI 6-1Mini breast brachytherapy applicator at the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) annual meeting being held this week in Chicago.
The study, performed at Texas Oncology in Denton, involved the use of the SAVI 6-1Mini breast brachytherapy applicator, which was found to enhance dose optimization and achieve planning target volume (PTV) coverage while sparing skin tissue, according to the Aliso Viejo, CA firm.
The SAVI 6-1Mini is designed to deliver brachytherapy radiation treatment for patients with small breasts, difficult-to-reach lumpectomy cavities, or those cavities that lie close to the skin.
