SenoRx CEO takes medical leave

Lloyd Malchow, chairman and CEO of breast brachytherapy developer SenoRx of Irvine, CA, is taking an indefinite medical leave of absence due to illness.

Malchow has been diagnosed with cancer and will undergo medical treatment during his leave. He will continue to serve on the company's board of directors and will remain involved in strategic decisions.

President and chief operating officer (COO) John Buhler will serve as acting CEO in the meantime. Buhler joined SenoRx in May 2008 and has served as president and COO since October 2009.
