Hospital management provider Concord Medical Services Holdings said it has acquired a 19.98% interest in the MD Anderson Proton Therapy Center at the University of Texas.
Concord said it plans to invest in and operate two proton centers in China, adding that this transaction will give it the expertise and knowledge needed to operate the Chinese centers.
The acquisition makes Concord the second largest owner of the MD Anderson center. Concord will join the board of directors of the center's general partner, PTC-Houston Management, as well as the center's advisory committee, the company said.
