Hospital management provider Concord Medical Services has received government approval to establish a freestanding radiotherapy cancer center in Datong, China.
Called Datong Meizhong Jiahe Cancer Center, the facility will be a 100%-owned subsidiary of Concord Medical and will provide diagnostic and radiotherapy services with 100 beds once the construction of the facility is completed. It will be the first freestanding center in the Concord Medical network, Concord said.
Construction is expected to begin next month, and the facility will become operational in 2015. The center will be registered as a specialty cancer hospital and will also apply to join the local social insurance coverage, Concord said.
The firm plans to build a nationwide chain of freestanding cancer treatment and diagnosis centers in the future.
