IBA receives Brazil's OK for proton therapy system

Proton therapy developer Ion Beam Applications (IBA) has received clearance from Brazil's health regulatory agency to market its ProteusOne system in the country.

Approval from the Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária (ANVISA) allows IBA to offer its single-room proton therapy system with features that include compact image-guided intensity-modulated proton therapy (IG-IMPT) and an enhanced open gantry.

IBA has sold 24 ProteusOne systems worldwide, according to the company.
