Mevion Medical Systems has integrated its S250i proton therapy system with advanced radiation therapy company C-Rad's Catalyst PT tracking technology for proton and particle therapy systems.
Combining the C-Rad Catalyst PT with the Mevion S250i proton therapy system allows for automated positioning and monitoring of patients undergoing proton therapy, reducing the need to interrupt treatment, according to the companies.
Clinicians at the Maastro radiotherapy center in Maastricht, the Netherlands, will begin offering the integrated proton therapy technologies for clinical use in August, with a focus on thoracic tumors, the companies said.
