Mevion Medical Systems is highlighting its research and development regarding Flash therapy using Mevion S250i compact proton accelerators during the virtual meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO).
Flash therapy, which is not yet available for clinical use or commercial sale, involves the use of ultrahigh-dose-rate therapeutic radiation delivered at fast speeds. The firm will present the results of a small animal study on Tuesday, October 27, at 11:45 a.m. Eastern Time in the Innovation Hub of the ASTRO 2020 meeting.
Mevion is also highlighting the integrated imaging and patient positioning options available on its systems, as well as demonstrations of its Hyperscan pencil-beam scanning system in conjunction with the RayStation treatment planning system.
